BMW driver on false plates jumped from moving car to flee police in Bolton

A dodgy driver jumped out of his car while it was still moving in an attempt to flee from chasing police officers.

The man was spotted in a silver BMW on Moss Bank Way in Bolton last night (Sunday) but he quickly turned onto Marld Crescent in the Johnson Fold estate to try and escape.

Officers followed him but he climbed out of the vehicle while it was moving and sent it crashing into a parked car.

Police seized the BMW but the man got away by running through gardens in the estate.

In a statement on the GMP Bolton North Facebook page, an officer said: "Officers from the Roads Policing Unit have just seized this vehicle from Marld Crescent, Johnson Fold.

"The BMW was sighted on Moss Bank Way by XT18.

"The driver clearly didn’t want to stick around and explain why his car was on false plates.

"He abandoned the car whilst it was still moving, leaving it to collide with a parked car. He then took to garden hopping. The vehicle has been recovered and enquiries are on going."

Anyone with information about this incident should call GMP on 101.
