BMW 'deliberately rammed' into wrong house

A car was "deliberately rammed" into the wrong house in a case of mistaken identity.

On Monday night a black BMW X5 drove into a car which was then pushed into the front of a house, with two people running away from the scene.

At around 10.30pm on Monday, October 25, police received reports from residents at a home on Heartwood Close in Orrell Park that a black BMW X5 had driven into their car and pushed into the front of the house.

The incorrectly targeted attack has caused extensive damage to the car and the house.

The car was abandoned on the driveway of the house, with two people seen running away.

Nobody was injured but the residents of the house were left shaken.

Enquiries are currently ongoing, including forensic examinations of the car, CCTV enquiries and house-to-house enquiries.

Detective Inspector Paul Gillies said: "This was a shocking experience for the residents to go through, which has caused extensive damage, inconvenience and worry.

"We believe that the car was deliberately rammed into the occupants' vehicle and home, but that it was a case of mistaken identity."

Detective Inspector Paul Gilies also appealed for residents in the area to check any CCTV, dashcam and doorbell footage.

He said: "If you captured anyone running off around 10.30pm in the area of Heartwood Close, or have home CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage, please check as it may greatly assist our enquiries.

"We’re determined to find those people responsible for such a dangerous incident."
