A silver BMW was seen in flames on the hard shoulder at Switch Island.
Merseyside Police were called to Dunnings Bridge Road at around 4.30pm on November 25 to reports of a "highway disruption". At the scene, a silver BMW was found well alight on the hard shoulder of the busy carriageway.
Passers-by caught pictures of the flaming car before Merseyside Fire and Rescue were able to extinguish the blaze. It's not yet clear what started the fire.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We were called out to a report of a highway disruption on Dunningsbridge Road earlier today, Friday November 25.
"At around 4.30pm, we received a report that a silver BMW was on fire on the hard shoulder. Officers were in attendance and the fire was extinguished by Merseyside Fire and Rescue."
