BMC fines those flouting Covid norms

BHOPAL: In the backdrop of people and businesses not adhering to Covid-19 appropriate behavior, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is coming down heavy on offenders. In the past week alone, civic body has imposed an average of over 200 spot fines per day in this week.

In the last five days, over close to 1300 people or entities have been penalized. BMC collected close to Rs two lakh in the process. ‘‘ Average fine for not wearing facemask is close to Rs 200 for the first offence.

BMC is continuously taking action in way of spot fines for people not adhering to Covid-19protocols, littering or use of banned polythene bags. BMC health wing staff as been more stringent in action against those who do not wear facemasks in their respective zone areas or do not follow social distancing norms. It follows instructions from BMC commissioner KVS Chaudary. BMC has teams across all 19 zone and 85 wards.
