Blythswood Square Hotel launches virtual Christmas boutique to support small businesses

Blythswood Square Hotel will host its first ever boutique festive market online to support small businesses.

Bringing together luxury brands and independent designers, Blythswood Virtual Festive Boutique will showcase the skills and products of local Glasgow artisans while their shops are unable to open and they are unable to trade on Small Business Saturday next weekend.

Gillian Mylles, hotel manager at Kimpton Blythswood Square said: "At Kimpton Blythswood Square we like to support local as much as we can and with the closing of small shops in Glasgow over what is usually a very busy Christmas shopping period, we thought we would do whatever we could to help."

Over the weekend of December 5 and 6, the Blythswood Festive Boutique will showcase gifts, craft products and artisan goods from great, independent, small Glasgow businesses.

This will include florists, jewellery makers and fashion brands, such as local shop Ryan James Studio, who has been forced to close his pop-up at Princes Square Galleries, and like many who work in fashion retail rely on Christmas trade.

The hotel also enlisted the help of David Lawson to deck its halls with lovely decorations for Christmas, inspired by the hotel’s classic features.

Independent fashion retailer, James Rennie, director of Ryan James Studio said: “Christmas is such an important trading period for us as a company and with restrictions being imposed on retail, it is a very challenging time. Participating in online events such as this from the Blythswood is an amazing way to support our small business”.

Blythswood Virtual Festive Boutique will take place Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 of December.

Follow the hotel on Facebook and Instagram to buy artisan Christmas gifts and watch demos and workshops from Glasgow small sellers.

Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel will reopen to the public for overnights, dining and spa experiences on December 12, pending further restrictions from the Scottish Government.
