The soundtrack to the popular cartoon Bluey has become the first children's music album to top the ARIA album charts.
Bluey: The Album came off the leash at No.1 this week, beating the Sydney hip hop artist The Kid Laroi's F*** Love to top spot.
The show's composer, Joff Bush, told AAP he was left gobsmacked by the news.
"It's a bit surreal, it hasn't really sunk in yet," he said.
Mr Bush said he was simply surprised that an album made for kids has sold more than releases by some of the country's most popular musicians.
"It shows how loved Bluey is as a show, and how parents love it too," he said.
The wildly popular award-winning ABC children's series is made in Brisbane, and has become a worldwide hit, licensed to Disney and the BBC.
In short seven-minute episodes it follows the adventures of Bluey, a six-year-old Blue Heeler, and her Dad Bandit, her Mum Chilli, and her little sister Bingo.
The album features 17 compositions from the show's first series, including an extended theme tune.
Joff Bush says he tries to compose music for the show that will add an extra layer to the storytelling.
"It helps create another world, especially in scenes where Bluey and her little sister Bingo are playing imaginary games," he said.
And just like Bluey and Bingo, everything turns out OK, even when they might appear less than perfect.
"I like to leave in all the homeliness and all the imperfections in the music," he Bush said.
Bluey: The Album was released in Australia and the US on January 22. It hit No.5 in the US listings.
