Ohio-born, Brooklyn-based band The National will headline Byron Bay’s 27th annual Bluesfest. They will be joined by Kendrick Lamar and a massive line-up including City and Colour, Cold War Kids, Jackson Browne, Modest Mouse, The Cat Empire, The Decemberists and more.
Over the years, the festival has expanded from the East Coast international blues and roots festival, with a modest crowd of 6,000 in 1990, to a massive 200 performance-strong festival with some of the biggest names in contemporary music and an audience of over 100,000.
At the core, the blues and roots acts remain a keystone of the festival, with acts like Joe Bonamassa, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Jason Isbell, Rhiannon Giddens, Sturgill Simpson, The Word, Grace Potter among others scheduled to play this year.
