ST. LOUIS _ No dramatics, no overtime needed Friday. Although not exactly a laugher, the Blues cruised to a 4-1 victory over Vancouver before 17,724 at Scottrade Center.
It marked the fourth win in a row for St. Louis, but the first of the four that did not require overtime. And keeping with the No. 4, it's their fourth four-game win streak of the season, but their first in the 2018 calendar year.
At 41-28-5, the Blues have 87 points, but remain just out of wild-card position in the Western Conference.
Vladimir Tarasenko, back in the saddle after missing nearly three full games with an upper-body injury, gave the Blues a cushion with his 28th goal of the season to start the third period.
Jaden Schwartz won the puck in the corner from Vancouver's Christopher Tanev, then fed a crossing pass to Tarasenko in front of the net. Tarasenko's backhand went through the legs of Canucks goalie Anders Nilsson, giving the Blues a 3-1 lead just 14 seconds into the final period.
Dmitrij Jaskin concluded the scoring jamming in his sixth goal of the season at the 17:31 mark of the third. It was just Jaskin's second goal since Dec. 9, and it came on his 25th birthday.
