Boom recruit Zac Williams is set to miss Carlton's round-one showdown with AFL premiers Richmond after being offered a one-match suspension for rough conduct.
Williams, lured from GWS through free agency at the end of last year in a boost to the Blues' rebuild, jumped off the ground and caught St Kilda's Hunter Clark with a high bump during last Thursday night's practice match.
The hit left Clark dazed, however, he played out the match and later passed a concussion test.
The AFL match review officer graded the incident careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.
Williams has the option of challenging the ban but will otherwise have to wait until round two to make his Carlton debut.
The suspension is a blow to the Blues' chances of upsetting Richmond, who they have not beaten in their last 10 meetings, dating back to 2013.
Meanwhile, GWS captain Stephen Coniglio and Fremantle's Darcy Tucker can both accept $2000 fines for low-impact rough conduct charges out of the weekend's pre-season matches.
Port Adelaide's Karl Amon can accept a $1000 fine for careless contact with an umpire.
West Coast's Jeremy McGovern was cleared of wrongdoing over his shirt-front on Fremantle's Lachie Schultz.
