Blues to battle Man United for star, midfielder's new deal & other Chelsea transfer rumours

The countdown to the summer transfer window is now on, with Chelsea needing to assess their squad and potential business carefully in the coming months.

The Blues were banned from registering players for two transfer windows after they were found guilty of breaking rules into the signing of youth players, something that Chelsea deny.

FIFA have already stated that the Blues will not be allowed to register players this summer and their request to delay the ban has been denied.

Chelsea's appeal to FIFA is currently being heard, and could potentially mean they are able to buy players this summer, even if the ban is eventually upheld.

While the west London side have been left to consider their next steps, there are still a number of transfer links for the Blues to deal with, and still plenty of players who could leave, which could mean trouble at Stamford Bridge.

What has been said about Michy Batshuayi and his Chelsea future as transfer window looms

James Rodriguez

Manchester United and Chelsea are both reportedly interested in Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez.

The Colombian international has been on loan at Bayern Munich for two seasons, and will be available for £36m this season with Zinedine Zidane not keen to bring the attacker back to the Bernabeu.

Bayern will not be using their option to buy Rodriguez, with Niko Kovac using the 27-year-old sparingly this season, and likely to look elsewhere in the summer.

According to the Express, United and Chelsea are both showing interest in a potential move for the star of the 2014 World Cup.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Chelsea are set to commence contract talks with Ruben Loftus-Cheek in order to stop the midfielder running down his current deal like Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The midfielder has two years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, but according to the Sun, club chief Marina Granovskaia wants new talks to extend the 23-year-old’s stay beyond 2021.

The Blues are keen to avoid the same situation developing that has happened with Hudson-Odoi, though Loftus-Cheek’s increased game-time throughout this season could offer him reassurances of a full future with the club.

The only thing blocking his path at the moment is a recurring back injury, which Maurizio Sarri says will not require surgery - but will probably require specialist management for the rest of his career.

Willian

Barcelona are believed to be preparing a £30million for Chelsea ace Willian, according to The Sun.

The Brazilian, who is out of contract at the end of next season, was heavily linked with a move to the Nou Camp last summer but it didn’t materialise.

Luka Jovic

AS in Spain have claimed that Real Madrid have secured the signing of Luka Jovic for €60m.

The striker has been a huge hit at Eintracht Frankfurt this season but he will now be moving on despite them signing him on a permanent deal from Benfica for €7M.

Jovic has been linked with Chelsea recently after his stunning form in the Bundesliga.
