Blues stay hot, defeat Blue Jackets, 4-1

ST. LOUIS _ Stellar goaltending by Jake Allen and strong offensive support from the fourth line spelled a 4-1 victory for the Blues over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night at Scottrade Center.

Fourth-line members Scottie Upshall and Kyle Brodziak scored goals for the Blues, who improved to 9-2-1 on the season. Another red-hot NHL team, Los Angeles (9-1-1) is next up for the Blues on Monday at Scottrade.

Allen turned aside 36 of 37 shots by Columbus making several impressive saves along the way. The Blues also got goals from Vladimir Sobotka in the first period to make it 1-0, and Joel Edmundson in the third period that made the score 3-0 as they improved their home record to 4-0 this season.

Matt Calvert scored for the Blue Jackets 6:21 into the third period to cut the deficit to 3-1, but Brodziak converted at the 13:23 mark to put the Blues back ahead by 3.
