Blues' offensive struggles continue in 3-1 loss to Ducks

ST. LOUIS _ The Blues avoided their second consecutive shutout, but that was about all they accomplished in a 3-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night at Scottrade Center.

The Ducks got two goals from left wing Kevin Roy, who came into the game with four goals this season, in 2:45 in the third period to extend their lead to 3-0 and hand the Blues their second consecutive loss and fourth loss in the past six home games.

Patrik Berglund scored with 5:53 to go, skating down the right wing and beating Anaheim goalie John Gibson to the short side. But that was it offensively for the Blues, who outshot Anaheim 30-18.

Roy flipped in a rebound from in front of the goal with 14:17 to go in the period and then he scored again with 11:32 to go when a centering pass deflected to him in the slot.

Andrew Cogliano opened scoring for the Ducks with a goal at the 11:11 mark of the second period.

The Blues hadn't scored since Vladimir Tarasenko scored in overtime to end Sunday's game against Buffalo.

The Blues face one of their Central Division pursuers, Winnipeg, in back-to-back games, Saturday in St. Louis and then Sunday in Winnipeg.

The last time the Blues were shutout in consecutive games was in the final two games of the 2013-14 season.
