ST. LOUIS _ The Blues' extended their winning streak to four games, their point streak to seven games and knocked another of the league's top teams with a 4-2 win over the Kings at Scottrade Center on Monday night.
The Blues got goals from Vladimir Tarasenko and Jaden Schwartz and what turned out to be the game winner from Carl Gunnarsson, just the third of his career. The Blues added an empty net goal from Vladimir Sobotka with 1:05 to play to clinch it.
The Blues and Kings were two of the three teams in the league with 19 points coming into the game.
Jake Allen stopped 26 of the 28 shots he faced to get the win.
After a scoreless first period, the Blues and Kings went wild in the second period, with the Blues taking a 3-2 lead.
Tarasenko started the scoring with his sixth goal of the season after a steal by Schwartz. Schwartz then made it 2-0 with his eighth goal of the season, as he put in a rebound of a backhand attempt by Brayden Schenn.
The Kings got back to 2-1 on a breakaway goal by Tanner Pearson, but the Blues pushed the lead back to two on a goal by Carl Gunnarsson, who had been having a rough game to that point. (It was his turnover that led to Pearson's goal.) The Kings challenged that there was goalie interference, but the officials ruled no, which did not sit well with Kings goalie Jonathan Quick, who skated out of his goal to yell at the refs.
The Kings made it 3-2 on a goal by Dustin Brown 19 seconds into a power play after a tripping call on Colton Parayko.
