Bluedot festival adds Britpop legend to 2019 line-up

Bluedot festival has today announced the third wave of artists joining the line-up for its 2019 festival.

Britpop stalwart Jarvis Cocker is among the latest additions to the Cheshire-based festival with a rare live set.

The Pulp frontman will appear at the festival, which fuses music, science and culture in the shadow of the Lovell telescope at Jodrell Bank Observatory.

It comes as part of the third wave of artists to join up to the quirky event, which takes place from July 18 to 21.

Fans can expect an energetic set from Cocker who became a hugely successful solo artist in his own right.

Elsewhere British jazz group Sons of Kemet join the eclectic bill on the back of their 2018 world tour.

Also topping the bill is Derrick Carter’s Cosmic Disco, a heady mix of futuristic tribal house and tech-disco, hosted by La Discothèque.

Bluedot has also announced the first names on this year's comedy line-up as part of the festival’s art and culture programme.

The varied bill includes comedian John Robins, Knightmare Live - the stage adaptation of the cult TV show - and Irish freestyle rapper Abandoman.

Day tickets to the festival will be available from 10am on Friday March 29, priced at £59.75 per person.

Full weekend camping tickets start from £169. For tickets and details please ticketmaster.co.uk or visit discoverthebluedot.com .

Away from the music, the science and culture programme will this year be centred around the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.

The UK's first astronaut and woman on the Mir space station Dr Helen Sharman will put in an appearance as a key speaker, backed up by a family-friendly programme of hands-on science experiments and interactive shows.
