Blue Planet Live viewers horrified as seagull snatches baby turtle behind presenter

Viewers hoping to watch another sweet episode of Blue Planet Live were left horrified this evening after spotting a seagull snatch a baby turtle.

While a presenter reporting from Heron Island in Australia was talking about the turtle hatcheries, fans spotted the gull sneaking up behind.

Speaking about the green sea turtle, presenter Liz Bonnin said: "We've watched them come up to the sands of Heron to nest and we've also had the great privilege of watching precious new lives, little hatchings emerging from nests and making it in the big blue."

She then turned to conservationist Liz Ferguson, who held a bucket with five baby turtles inside that they would be releasing onto the shore.

And they were left devastated when they spotted the gull swooping in and later carrying a turtle in its beak.
