Blue plague cops seize half a million tablets worth £250k from Paisley house during raid

A woman has been charged by police after more than half a million ‘street Valium’ tablets were seized from a house in Paisley.

Cops swooped on the property in the Foxbar area of the town shortly before 6pm on Wednesday, June 9.

The pre-planned operation netted the massive quantity of Etizolam tablets worth an estimated £250,000.

Police Scotland have since confirmed that a 45-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the seizure.

She is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Friday, June 11.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross said: "This is a significant recovery and our communities are safer having these drugs out of circulation.

“They cannot be sold and they cannot bring harm and misery to people's lives. This was a pre-planned operation and shows our determination to combat drug abuse.

“I would urge anyone with information about drugs in their community to contact police and be assured that action will be taken."

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 101 or make a report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The Record has warned about the dangers of ‘street Valium’ for several years as it now features in three quarters of Scotland’s drug deaths.

The rate is often said to be the ”worst in Europe” and no other nation in the entire world comes close.

Our stories have reflected how street pill users often have telltale blue mouths, from food dye in the pills.

Many deaths are down to users buying a large batch - which makes them cheaper - then taking the lot as the first dose tends to affect memory and erode any sense of danger.
