Blue Line service resumes after rubbish fire on tracks near Western Avenue

Blue Line trains were suspended on the West Side for a half hour Wednesday afternoon due to a fire on the tracks.

Crews responded about 2:15 p.m. to a rubbish fire on the tracks near Congress and Western avenues, and quickly extinguished it, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Merritt.

Trains were suspended until about 2:45 p.m. between Forest Park and UIC/Halsted, according to the Chicago Transit Authority.
