Blue Line service resumed again after a driver was killed and three others were injured Tuesday night when a car was hit on CTA tracks near northwest suburban Rosemont.

The car flipped onto the tracks and was struck by a Blue Line train at 8:36 p.m. near Interstate 190 and Mannheim Road, Rosemont Police Sgt. Joe Balogh and Illinois State Police said. It was not clear how the car ended up on the tracks.

“Unfortunately there is no definitive narrative on what transpired here,” Chicago Transit Authority spokesman Brian Steele said.

Balogh said four people were taken to hospitals, including one person pulled from the car and three others from the train. The driver was pronounced dead, state police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released details.

Steele said there was no significant damage to a train.

Blue Line trains were halted at the Rosemont station until about 2:30 a.m., the CTA said.

At 10 p.m., westbound traffic on I-190 was reduced to a single lane near the scene of the crash, ISP said.
