Blue Lagoon coming to West Lothian - and the Glasgow chippy also plan to open in Edinburgh

Famous fish and chip shop chain Blue Lagoon are opening their first eatery in the Lothians, Edinburgh Live can exclusively reveal.

Earlier this year, we reported that the 40-year-old company were planning a move to the capital after many successful decades in Glasgow.

Director Simone Varese recently confirmed plans for an Edinburgh outlet saying: “We’d like to open one in Edinburgh, but we have not found the right spot.”

However, they're definitely heading in the right direction - as they have just signed up to open a new location at The Centre in Livingston, West Lothian.

Mr Varese told Edinburgh Live : "we have just concluded a deal for the leasehold of a prominent unit within Livingston 'The Centre' shopping centre. We see this as our first major step into the direction of Edinburgh."

He continued: The unit was previously let to Aulds Bakers. We plan to invest 250k to completely re-fit and rebrand the unit to our Blue Lagoon themed specification comprising of a 60 seater restaurant and take-away."

In 2016, the Blue Lagoon on Argyle Street in Glasgow famously served up a haggis supper to US heart-throb Justin Bieber after he played a gig in Glasgow.

At the time, Glasgow Live reported that Bieber was in good spirits and stayed for around 20 minutes in the shop chatting to staff.

A spokesperson added: "Justin came in with a cap on and two bouncers with him. He was in good spirits and very excited about trying the local cuisine.

"He was in around 10.30pm and ordered a haggis supper, fish supper and two sausage suppers and a couple of cans of Irn Bru.

"He had a few bites of the fish supper while at the counter and seemed to enjoy it, and he said the Irn Bru was lovely."

So there you go, people of Livingston. If it's good enough for Justin Bieber, it's good enough for you.
