Blue Ivy Carter, the daughter of the music industry’s most powerful couple — Beyoncé and Jay-Z — is the narrator of “Hair Love,” the audiobook based on the Academy Award-winning short film by Northwest Side native Matthew A. Cherry.

Cherry made the announcement Monday on his social media accounts, with a sample of Carter reading the children’s book on Audible, Amazon’s vertical for audiobooks.

Carter, 8, who appeared in her mother’s “Black is King” visual album on Disney+, is an award-winning singer for the song “Brown Skin Girl.”

Cherry’s announcement adds to the successful 2020 run he’s having thus far. His film “Hair Love” won the Oscar for best animated short earlier this year, and in August, HBO Max ordered a 12-episode season of “Young Love,” an animated series that looks into the lives of the book’s Young family — Stephen and Angela, daughter Zuri, and pet cat Rocky — introduced by Cherry.
