The Air Self-Defense Force's aerobatic squadron Blue Impulse made an exhibition flight over central Tokyo on Friday to show its gratitude and respect to medical workers, who are treating COVID-19 patients.
People were able to see the display from various parts of Tokyo if they looked up at the sky.
Outside of Ebara Hospital -- a hospital currently treating coronavirus patients -- in Ota Ward, about 20 employees including nurses cheered and took pictures as the Blue Impulse squadron flew by at around 12:50 p.m.

"It was such a nice surprise because I feel tense every day, worrying about not spreading the virus. I will continue to work hard and stay focused," said Eriko Kawaike, 47, a nurse in charge of an emergency outpatient unit at the hospital.
At Tokyo Metropolitan Bokutoh Hospital in Sumida Ward, people waved at the Blue Impulse squadron.
"Seeing [airplanes] fly around like that really encouraged me," said an off-duty female nurse, 34, who came from Kokubunji, Tokyo, to see the airplanes.
