Blow to Cork after tech giant Stryker confirms job losses as they 'address ever-changing needs'

Tech giant Stryker have confirmed a number of people have lost their jobs at their Cork plant in a blow to the local community.

The medical tech company said the job cuts come as the company looks to "address the ever-changing needs" of their customers.

It's thought around 40 people lost their jobs at the Model Farm Road plant with the company saying they had all been on temporary contracts, Cork Beo reports.

They said: "Stryker continuously evolves to ensure that our resources and operations are aligned to address the ever-changing needs of our customers.

" After careful consideration, we have announced the termination of a limited number of temporary contract positions within our manufacturing operation at Model Farm Road.

"These changes will help us remain best positioned to support our customers and respond to current and future market dynamics."
