Blow for Waterford hurlers as key man Tadhg de Búrca suffers ACL injury

The Waterford hurlers have been dealt a blow long before the 2020 season has even got underway as key man Tadhg de Búrca suffers a serious injury.

The Deise sweeper has injured his anterior cruciate ligament and could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines, according to RTE.

Often times, players can be ruled out for over nine months with the injury. In that instance, he could be unlikely to feature throughout next year's Allianz League campaign and be a doubt for the Munster Championship.

The 24-year-old suffered a broken in a Munster clash with Clare last year,  and was a key man for Paraic Fanning's side in another disappointing season as the Deise finished bottom of the Munster Championship for the second year on the bounce.

Fanning has since stepped down as manager, Waterford are still on the hunt for a new boss.
