Blow for Mayo as Oisin Mullin reportedly set for AFL switch to Geelong Cats

Oisin Mullin is set to complete a move to the AFL that will see him join Geelong Cats, according to reports.

The move would represent a huge blow for James Horan's men if they were to lose the defender, who was recently nominated for both an All-Star and Young Footballer of the Year after stellar performances in the Green and Red of Mayo.

The 42 reports that the Kilmaine clubman will join as a Category B rookie, and will join up with the side in 2022 due to a hip injury.

Mullin has long been linked with a move Down Under, having attended a 2019 combine in DCU which earned him further trials with clubs in Melbourne before the Covid-19 pandemic saw the trip axed.

Geelong currently have two Irish stars on their books in Zach Tuohy and Mark O’Connor, and their AFLW side recently snapped up Mayo’s Rachel Kearns.
