Blow for Ireland as Norwich striker Adam Idah ruled out for rest of season

Norwich striker Adam Idah is out for the rest of the season in a blow to Stephen Kenny's Ireland plans.

The 21-year-old missed the Canaries' clash with Man City over the weekend with ankle and knee issues - with scan results showing the concerns to be more serious than first thought.

Idah will require surgery on a knee meniscus problem that will see him ruled out in a blow after a good run of form.

The Cork star has been in fine form since new manager Dean Smith came to the club in November, starting six of their last ten Premier League fixtures as his career began to take off.

But Smith confirmed that Idah won't return for the rest of the English season in a press conference this morning, throwing a spanner in Kenny's Boys in Green plans.

Smith said: "Adam will be out for the season, so that’s a big blow for us.”

Idah was expected to be part of Kenny's plans for a friendly double-header next month against Belgium and Lithuania.

Idah won his first senior cap under Kenny and has gone on to to make 13 appearances in green.
