Blow for Arsenal as Chelsea given huge boost ahead of Europa League final

Chelsea have been dealt a huge boost ahead of the Europa League final with N'Golo Kante returning to training after injury.

The combative midfielder limped off with a hamstring injury after just 10 minutes of Chelsea 's game against Watford earlier this month.

Manager Maurizio Sarri admitted he had "made a mistake because, probably, today he had to rest" after he suffered a problem it was feared would rule him out for the rest of the season.

But he returned to training ahead of schedule on Monday as the Blues prepare to head to Baku to take on Arsenal in their quest for a European trophy.

The news is a major boost to Sarri ahead of a massive game amid rumours he could be axed as Chelsea boss and replaced by Frank Lampard.

The Blues already have plenty of injury problems, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek joining Callum Hudson-Odoi on the sidelines with a ruptured Achilles.

Both players have undergone surgery and will not feature in Baku, but Kante is now set to return as Sarri chases his first trophy as Chelsea boss.

Kante's return comes as he is linked to a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

He was touted as a potential target for the French champions in January and they have now set their sights on the Chelsea man as they ramp up their European ambitions.

He is top of their list having shelved interest in Everton ace Idrissa Gueye, with Kante, 28, considering the chance to take his last big pay-day.

Chelsea are already at risk of losing Eden Hazard to Real Madrid and are facing the prospect of a transfer ban.
