Blossoms postpone Newcastle Academy gig and UK tour

Blossoms have chosen to postpone their UK tour.

The band, whose tour included a gig at O2 Academy Newcastle on Wednesday March 25, broke the news to their fans on social media this morning.

"Morning. Just to let everyone know, our March UK tour is now postponed. We’re currently working on rearranging all headline shows – London, Hull, Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle, Birmingham & Manchester," Blossoms tweeted.

"We'll let you know as soon as we have any more info. "

Blossoms follow The Who and the Script in cancelling live music events in Newcastle since coronavirus was declared a pandemic. All three bands chose to shelve their dates, with Utilita Arena telling Script fans that it was not the venue's decision to postpone .

At the moment, large live music events are still allowed to go ahead. James Arthur performed at Utilita Arena on Friday, while Paddy Fest drew thousands to Times Square, Newcastle over the weekend.

As it stands, Sam Fender's concert at at Newcastle Arena on Friday April 3 is set to go ahead, as is This is Tomorrow Festival in May.

But Prime Minister Boris Johnson is likely to discuss arrangements for banning large gatherings of people, when he chairs a Cobra meeting on Monday.
