Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez highlighted a new poll released this week showing her narrowly ahead of Vice President JD Vance in a hypothetical 2028 presidential matchup, as speculation continues over potential contenders in the first post-Trump presidential race.
The survey, conducted by The Argument/Verasight, found 51% of respondents backing the New York Democrat and 49% supporting Vance if the two were to face off in 2028. Ocasio-Cortez responded to the results on social media with a brief post reading, "Bloop!"

The findings add to a growing body of polling suggesting Ocasio-Cortez has strong support among younger Democrats. A Yale Youth Poll released earlier this month showed her leading a hypothetical 2028 Democratic primary field among voters under 35 by double-digit margins over figures such as former Vice President Kamala Harris and California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Her support was strongest among Democrats under 30, while backing declined among older age groups, where Harris and Newsom performed better.
While no candidate has formally launched a 2028 campaign, Ocasio-Cortez's rising national profile has fueled speculation about her future ambitions. She has recently drawn large crowds alongside Sen. Bernie Sanders during a nationwide "Fighting Oligarchy" tour focused on economic inequality and corporate power.
In recent interviews, Ocasio-Cortez has also pointed to economic pressure as a central political issue heading into the 2026 midterm elections. Speaking to CNN last week, she said she believes there could be a "blue wave," arguing that affordability concerns could put Republican-held seats at risk. "We're looking that there could be a cycle where R+10 seats flip to Democrats," she said.
