A man has been left with head injuries after an early morning attack in Belfast.

The victim was allegedly assaulted in the Bloomfield Court area of the city this morning, Sunday, September 22.

He was struck several times on the head and face but did not attend hospital. Two men, aged 56 and 32, have been arrested and are in police custody .

Detective Sergeant William Arnott said: “At approximately 6.30am this morning police received a report that a man had been assaulted.  He was struck several times on the head and face.

“One car was also damaged.

“The victim was attended to by NIAS at the scene, however he did not attend hospital.  His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or who has information that could assist us with our enquiries to contact detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 546 22/09/19.  Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
