Bloodbath as two men stabbed in town centre

Two men were stabbed in a Sunday morning horror in the centre of Girvan.

A row had erupted across from Rebo the Turkish-style barbers in Dalrymple Street.

Rebo remained closed on Monday while two men appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court.

Victims Gary Alexander and Daniel White were both stabbed.

Gary is a 46-year-old maintenance engineer.

His wife Wendy said: “I am just so thankful – this could have got so much worse.

“It is terrible that something like this could happen in a place like Girvan.

“It was all a bit of a blur. There was blood all over the pavement.”

Daniel, 22, was left with a broken nose.

The trouble broke out around lunchtime.

Gary’s right hand was slashed needing 15 stitches on his muscle and skin and a permanent stitch inserted in his tendon.

A member of staff at a nearby shop shouted “stop” as the incident developed.

Both men were driven to Ayr Hospital for treatment and released.

Wendy said: “Gary is now recuperating and cannot work for two weeks.”

Chief Inspector Brian Anderson, of Ayr Police Office, confirmed his officers were quickly on the scene and gave first aid to “two injured males.”

He added: “Two men were later apprehended in connection with the incident.”

Oscamon Fathi and
Ahmen Abdo, both 21, appeared in private at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday afternoon.

Both made no plea and were released on bail.

Abdo, of Folkestone, faced two counts of assault to severe injury and two charges of drug possession.

Fathi, of Gillingham, has been charged with two assaults to severe injury.
