Blood-soaked 'stabbing victim' bursts into Edinburgh shop pleading for help

Shocked eyewitnesses have told how a stabbing victim burst into a shop in Edinburgh pleading for help.

Emergency crews have been spotted tonight around the Gorgie Road area of the capital in the wake of the incident at around 5pm.

The Edinburgh Evening News reports that the man is believed to have been stabbed 'multiple times'.

He is said to have sought sanctuary inside Kaspas Desserts shop after the attack and asked for help.

Shocked eyewitnesses told the paper how they tried to help him as they waited on paramedics arriving.

Eyewitness Shaun Pinkerton, 28, said: “I was waiting on my ice cream when this guy who was about 18 came in, he was shouting for help.

"He appeared to have multiple stab wounds on his left leg and it was gushing blood everywhere. It was just horrible.

"I put him on a couch and shouted to staff to get me something to tie his leg with to keep the pressure on it.

Police are still there, they were searching for something on the other side of the road.”

Another witness said: “He came in and said he needed help.

"He said he’d been stabbed and needed an ambulance.

"We were just trying to do what we could until the ambulance got there.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
