Blood-soaked man ran into McDonald's in Cumbernauld after being 'slashed'

A man an eyewitness said was 'slashed' across the face in a late night attack ran into a nearby McDonald's for help.

Horrified diners in C umbernauld watched as the blood-soaked victim raced into the fast-food restaurant before collapsing on the floor.

Police arrived at scene on Central Way at 10.15pm, on Wednesday night.

Witnesses said the man was bleeding heavily.

One witness, who did not want to be named, described the scene to the Daily Record: She said: "He was lying on the ground inside the restaurant covered in blood.

"He looked like he had been slashed across the face multiple times.

"When police arrived they asked people who weren't witnesses to leave.

"People were throwing up outside afterwards."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of an assault on Torbrex Road, Cumbernauld around 9.55pm on Wednesday 30 October 2019.

"A 27-year-old man was taken to Monklands Hospital with facial injuries and has since been released.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. If anyone has any information about this incident please contact us on 101 quoting incident number 3919 of 30 October or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
