Blood donation motorbike volunteer rider killed in crash with car

Tributes have been paid to a “loving and devoted” partner and father who was killed in a motorbike crash in the Brecon Beacons on the weekend.

Dan Orlandea, who was 52, was riding his motorcycle on the A4215 between the villages of Libanus and Defynnog in Powys when he was involved in a collision with a car on Sunday afternoon.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, Mr Orlandea, who was from Caerphilly, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family has paid tribute to a family man who worked as a care assistant and was training to be a paramedic.

In a statement, his family said: “Dan was a caring, loving, devoted partner and father.

Mr Orlandea was 52 (Dyfed-Powys Police)

“He worked for South West Ambulance Service as a full time emergency care assistant, and was training to be a paramedic.

“He volunteered as a community first responder in his own area and often volunteered for Blood Bikes Wales. Dan loved being with his family and spending as much time as he could doing sporting activities with his daughter.”

Police are continuing to investigate the crash, which happened at around 3.15pm on Sunday.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the Brecon Roads Policing Unit by calling 101.
