Cars were covered in blood as neighbours woke up to the news of a serious stabbing.
Merseyside Police confirmed that they were called to reports that a man had been stabbed in the face and leg outside the row of shops on Finch Lane at 1.15am on Tuesday, June 14. Emergency services attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital for serious but not life-threatening injuries.
According to neighbours living on Colwell Road, the victim stumbled away from the shops and made his way down Colwell Road and round to Altfinch Close, leaving a "trail of blood" behind him. One woman who lives on Colwell Road told the ECHO that her neighbour had to wash her car this morning due to the amount of blood that had been smeared across it.

She said: "The first I knew about it was this morning when I took my little girl to school. One of the women down the road had to wash her car because there was blood all over it, there’s even a trail of blood that goes all the way round onto Altfinch Close.”
Cars down the road were left with blood draped across them, as spots of blood led round the estate down a quiet close. An investigation has now been launched following two cordons that were set up overnight.
Another woman, who lives closer to the shops on Colwell Road told the ECHO about how the road is given a bad name. She said: "A lot of people come down this road as it’s directly across from the shops. If you follow it round you can go through the field to Stockbridge Village as well.
"I was told the lad who was stabbed ran from the shops, down here and fell on the floor then police and ambulance turned up. It was on one of the crimewatch groups that this road is one of the worst in Liverpool but it’s not anyone who lives down here, it’s the people from other streets and areas that just use the road.”
Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “We are in the extremely early stages of an investigation into an incident on this morning which left a man injured and we are working to find the person responsible and bring them to justice. If you were in the West Derby area in the early hours of this morning and saw anything or anyone suspicious then please let us know.
"Similarly, if you were driving in the area and have dashcam footage then please review it and come forward if you see anything. This would have been a shocking incident for anyone to witness but I’d like to assure people that we believe it was an isolated and targeted attack, and there is no wider threat to the community.
“Knife crime has no place whatsoever in Merseyside and we rely on members of the public coming forward with information about such incidents to keep our communities safer. Please tell us what you know and we will take action. Your information could be vital in tracking down those responsible and removing them from our streets.”
