A spokeswoman from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said no one was injured as a result of the fire. Staff from Cardiff council are on route to check on the structural integrity of the flats.

Once the smoke had cleared, the true devastation of the fire could be seen with the roof reduced to its structural beams. The entrance to the flat has been sealed off to prevent people from entering and a police car remains at the scene. A Wales and West Utilities vehicle is also parked outside.
