Block of flats evacuated as firefighters tackle blaze

Emergency services are at the scene of a flat fire in Barmulloch.

Police and fire crews raced to Leadburn Square after the alarm was raised just after 5pm.

Residents have been evacuated from their homes while firefighters tackled the blaze.

It is understood no one has been injured.

Fire crews have requested Scottish Power to attend.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: "We received a call today of a fire in the building at Leadburn Square in Barmulloch at 5.08pm on Friday night.

"Three appliances were dispatched to the scene. Two are still there.

"The incident is ongoing."
