Blochairn car boot sale is happening this weekend for the first time in 14 months

One of the city's most popular car boot sales will be making its return this weekend after a 14-month hiatus.

The weekly event at Blochairn will be taking place on Sunday, February 6, after the lengthy closure due to the pandemic and onside building works.

The Blochairn car boot sale currently has over 50 long-term traders selling everything from fruit and veg, meat, pet supplies, and household goods.

In time for the reopening, there is a new cashless system in place and refurbished toilet facilities.

First established in 1993, Blochairn Car Boot Sale is located at Glasgow Wholesale Markets depot, just off Junction 14 of the M8 motorway, and will be open every Sunday from 6am-3pm.

Commenting on the reopening, Richard Watson, Commercial Group Manager of City Property (Glasgow) LLP, said: “We’re delighted to be reopening the car boot sale at our Blochairn complex.

"Having been closed for over a year, we’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone back and reinstating the car boot sale alongside our other popular markets across Glasgow.

“Not only does the car boot sale provide a platform for our regular traders to showcase their products; it is very popular with the local community, as well as attracting visitors from further afield to the city.“

Trading pitches for the Car Boot Sale must be booked in advance, with weekly bookings closing on the Wednesday prior to the event.
