Blizzard Entertainment has announced the return of BlizzCon with an online-only event called 'BlizzConline', yes that's it's the actual name, that will take place in February 2021.
BlizzCon - which hosts the Overwatch World Cup, Hearthstone Global Finals, and the Starcraft II World Championship Global Finals, is usually held in November but in May the game maker was forced to cancel the physical event due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re putting together a little something early next year to channel the spirit of BlizzCon into the form of an online show. We still have a lot of planning to do, and it’ll be some time before we’re ready to share more details — but we wanted to provide a heads-up on how you can be a part of the online fun,” Blizzard said via their blog.
While the developer has yet to reveal any major details about the virtual event, it will likely provide the company with a chance to offer updates on some of its previously announced titles from last year’s events, including Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4.
Blizzard did reveal their community showcase events for artists, cosplays, and short film producers would still be going ahead, albeit online, and that the competitions would be opened up to more participants.
Fans who want to participate in any of the community showcase events must have their submissions in to Blizzard by Jan. 4, 2021.
More details about what to expect for BlizzConline will be revealed closer to the event.
BlizzConline will take place on February 19th–20th, 2021
