Blithe Spirit cast convinced ghost of writer Sir Noel Coward haunted set during filming

In Blithe Spirit, Dame Judi Dench plays medium Madame Arcati who raises the souls of the dead in a seance...

And the cast thought life was imitating art, believing the ghost of playwright Sir Noel Coward, who wrote the play, was haunting the set when the electrics went haywire during filming.

Actress Isla Fisher said they were spooked when the power outed in the middle of a scene.

She says: “We were convinced it was Noel Coward visiting us.”

Perhaps Madame Arcati’s powers were at play. Although one review said the Sky Cinema film would have Noel “turning in his grave”.

Maybe he really was.

Isla told the Plot Twist podcast: “I don’t believe in ghosts, but I was very close to my grandma and I definitely felt connected to her when I needed to.”

Touch wood Blithe Spirit isn’t haunted by its reviews.

Jennifer Lopez on her 'natural beauty'

Jennifer claims she's never had any work done to her face (Instagram)

We might not be allowed to hug each other, but Jennifer Lopez has found a clever loophole – here she is embracing herself.

She must really love herself. At the least, the 51-year-old singer is extremely proud of her wrinkle-free complexion, and insists: “I have never done Botox or any injectables or surgery.”

It’s her new beauty products keeping her skin so huggable, she says.

The Serpent's not-so-exotic turn of events

The Serpent cast and crew were forced to get creative with shooting locations due to Covid (BBC/© Mammoth Screen)

The BBC’s glamorous series The Serpent was largely shot on location in Southeast Asia, the cast travelling around Thailand and Myanmar until Covid struck.

Then scenes planned for Mumbai, Karachi and Paris were relocated somewhere a little closer to home.

Actress Jenna Coleman tells Vogue: “We shot the rest of the series in Tring in Hertfordshire.” Not quite as exotic.
