Blink-182's Mark Hoppus tells fans he's 'scared' as he battles cancer

Blink-182 star Mark Hoppus has revealed he is battling cancer.

The musician took to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday to tell his followers he was "scared" but "hopeful" as he battles the disease.

He hasn't yet revealed what kind of cancer it is or what stage it is at, but he revealed he has been undergoing chemotherapy for the last three months.

He said: "For the past three months I've been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. I have cancer.

"It sucks and I'm scared, and at the same time I'm blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this."

He continued: "I still have months of treatment ahead of me but I'm trying to remain hopeful and positive.

"Can't wait to be cancer free and see you all at a concert in the near future. Love to you all."

Mark had earlier shared an image of what appeared to be him in a doctor's surgery. He had captioned the snap "yes hello. one cancer treatment, please".

Fans over on Twitter were quick to jump on the star's announcement to offer their well wishes and support.

American actor BJ Novak wrote: "You’re on our minds, Mark. Your attitude is going to be magnified by so many people."

Radio presenter Nick Major commented: "We all love you (like… a lot) and are ready to see you up on the stage ASAP!

"For now - kick the hell outta this cancer and I wish you speedy recovery."

Blink-182 bandmate Travis Barker also took to Instagram to share his support of his pal.

He shared an image of the pair embracing alongside the message "Love you, @markhoppus".

Fans of the star also took to the social media channel to share their stories of the star.

One user wrote: "I met you in 2016 and it was the best day of my life, earlier this year when I was going through my own battle w chemotherapy, blink-182 got me through it.

"You have entertained and brought so much happiness and joy to so many including myself over the years. Hang in there Mark."
