'Blessed' - Fred reacts to Manchester United winner in Ralf Rangnick's first match

Manchester United midfielder Fred says he is 'very blessed' to be the match winner during Ralf Rangnick's first game in charge of the club.

The Brazilian midfielder netted the only goal of the game on Sunday as United fought hard to beat Crystal Palace 1-0 in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

With time running out in the match Fred scored a spectacular goal when he received a pass from Mason Greenwood on the edge of the box and curled an effort into the top corner with his weaker right foot.

The stunning strike was no less than Fred deserved after another stellar showing in the United midfield and after the match he was asked for his reaction to the rare goal.

"Thank you!" he told MUTV after the match. "It was good to score in the game but today we win one-nil and my goal is so important. But the most important was the win of the team, the performance, we play very well, clean sheet.

"The first game of the new coach is so important for us."

When asked if his goal was made extra special by the back he doesn't normally use his right foot the popular midfielder added: "I'm left footed. Sometimes I try to shoot with my right foot.

"Mason gave me a good ball and in that moment I just look for goal, right foot and it's happened. I am very blessed and so happy to score at Old Trafford in front of our fans."
