The Genoa midfielder Blerim Dzemaili’s early strike was enough to secure his side’s second win of the season against Milan.

Dzemaili’s deflected free-kick after 10 minutes, which wrong-footed the Milan goalkeeper Diego López, was enough to condemn the visitors to defeat.

Milan’s hopes of going into the break level faltered when Alessio Romagnoli picked up a second yellow card for pushing Diego Capel in the face after 42 minutes.

The Czech forward Juraj Kucka, formerly of Genoa, squandered a glorious chance for Milan to rescue a point with four minutes left to play, when he shot over after smart work from Andrea Bertolacci and Luiz Adriano.
