Bleacher Report suggests Golden State Warriors are likely to trade No. 2 pick for team to draft LaMelo Ball

With the NBA Draft set to be pushed back a month, the rumors surrounding the Golden State Warriors and the No. 2 pick will only continue for even longer. When the debate as to who the Warriors should pick isn’t going on, it’s a debate of whether the team should trade the pick.

Even those discussions about a trade have branches as well. Should the Warriors go superstar hunting with the No. 2 pick as ammunition or should they trade down for more picks to stock up for a blockbuster deal down the road.

Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman discussed the possibility of a trade in his latest mock draft, going as far as to say he sees the Warriors moving the pick.

“The Golden State Warriors figure to remain active in trade talks for the No. 2 pick since the best fits for the roster should be available later in the lottery. While it’s unknown what offers will be on the table, I’d bet on another team picking at No. 2 and trading up for Ball.

“The Chicago Bulls make sense as a suitor given their need for a passer and potential trade chips in Lauri Markkanen, Coby White and Wendell Carter Jr. Even the New York Knicks can make an offer using Mitchell Robinson. And it will be interesting to see if the New Orleans Pelicans have any desire to move Jrue Holiday and pair the Ball brothers.”

Given Golden State’s lack of depth both in terms of players and assets, any of the names mentioned by Wasserman should be welcome additions to the Warriors. Notably, many of the names mentioned were bigs, which Golden State lacks most alongside with wing players.

A player like either Lauri Markkanen or Mitchell Robinson would not only be welcome additions for the franchise, they’d likely be starters from day one. Jrue Holiday is an interesting name to consider, but it’d be surprising if the Pelicans were interested in moving him for the No. 2 pick.
