Bleacher Report pegs landing spots, compensation for Chargers’ Melvin Gordon

With training camp closing in, most people only have one thing on their mind and that’s what’s in store for Chargers running back Melvin Gordon and his future.

We ran a poll earlier on asking fans what they believe should be the forecast for Gordon and many voted that Los Angeles should trade the former Wisconsin product to another team.

We listed four potential trade suitors for Gordon and it just so happens that Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski drew up five scenarios along with the compensation that L.A. would receive for the Pro Bowl running back.

Buffalo Bills

Gordon Compensation: 2020 fourth-round draft pick, offensive lineman LaAdrian Waddle and defensive end Shaq Lawson

In return, the Chargers would receive some competition for Sam Tevi at right tackle, depth behind Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram, and an early Day 3 draft pick.

Chicago Bears

Gordon Compensation: 2020 second-round draft pick

With Gordon’s value, he would demand a high draft selection if he were to be traded alone. The Bears have an extra pick in next year’s draft that they could afford to give up.

Green Bay Packers

Gordon Compensation: 2020 third-round pick and safety Josh Jones

The Chargers are loaded at the safety position with Derwin James, Nasir Adderley, Jaylen Watkins and Rayshawn Jenkins, but Jones would present more of a dime linebacker like Adrian Phillips, giving the team more playmakers on the defensive side of the ball.

Houston Texans

Gordon Compensation: 2020 third-round pick and tight end Jordan Akins

The Chargers will be getting Hunter Henry back this season, which is a huge plus for the offense. But as far as the depth behind him, there aren’t that many pass-catching options. Virgil Green proved last season that he couldn’t step up in the No. 1 role as he was outplayed by Antonio Gates and Sean Culkin is coming off an injury. Akins averaged 13.2 yards per catch last season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Gordon Compensation: Cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III and 2020 sixth-round pick

Arguably one of the biggest positional battles entering training camp is for the No. 2 cornerback spot between Trevor Williams and Michael Davis. Bringing in Hargreaves wouldn’t give them an instant starter by any means, as his professional career has been up and down. Instead, it would provide much-needed depth at the position in case injuries occur.

What do you guys feel would be the best trade out of the five listed above?
