The Vikings are strapped for cash when it comes to the salary cap, and the team has an aging veteran corner who takes up a lot of space.
Xavier Rhodes is not the cornerback he used to be. Rhodes is coming off a season where he had no interceptions and just six pass deflections in 2019.
Bleacher Report thinks it’s time to move on. The outlet listed the Vikings’ best possible free agency move they could make as getting rid of Rhodes.
Bleacher Report had this to say about the decision:
“While Rhodes made the Pro Bowl this past season, that nod was almost as ridiculous as his $12.9 million cap hit in 2020. The 29-year-old was once one of the better players at his position, but he’s backslid the past two seasons as opposing receivers have roasted him with alarming regularity.”
With Rhodes’ level of play dropping off and his large hit to the salary cap, I think it’s time for the Vikings to at least restructure.
