The construction of a new office building designed to bestride the railroad tracks of the Seibu Ikebukuro Line has been completed in the Ikebukuro district of Toshima Ward, Tokyo.
DaiyaGate Ikebukuro was built with one part of its foundation in a vacant lot in Seibu Railway Co.'s headquarters south of Ikebukuro Station and another part in a plot across the tracks, forming a unique shape that allows trains to pass through the building.
The exterior design, with crisscrossing beams, was inspired by the diagonal lines seen in train operation diagrams used in railway management.
Three companies in the Seibu Group, among others, will move into the building, which has 18 floors above ground plus two basement floors. Their businesses will open in April.
