Blazers coach Terry Stotts says LeBron’s ‘playmaking, leadership’ most impressive

Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts is very impressed with what he’s seen from Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James so far this season as he and the Lakers are 19-3 heading into Friday night’s game in Portland.

According to Stotts, it’s not just the statistic and leading the NBA in assists that have impressed him so far from James this season.

“He’s better than last year,” he told reporters on Friday. No, he’s playing at a very high level. I know his assists speak for themselves, he’s doing a lot other than scoring even though his scoring numbers are up. Just his playmaking and his leading the team is the most impressive thing.”

James is second on the Laker in scoring at 25.4 points per game, just behind Anthony Davis’ 26 points per game. In addition to his scoring, James is averaging a career-high 10.8 assists per game. James has never before led the NBA in assists but he looks primed to do just that in his 17th season.

James and the Lakers are set to take on Carmelo Anthony and the Portland Trail Blazers tonight at 7:30 p.m. pacific on ESPN.
