Blaze at Celtic chief Peter Lawwell's home captured in unseen footage by stunned eyewitness as inferno rages

A shocked eyewitness captured Celtic chief Peter Lawwell's home in flames as the blaze lit up the sky following a suspected petrol bomb attack.

Bradley Rae was driving in the area and was en route to a McDonald's nearby when he stopped his car to take a photo of the stars.

He noticed a bright orange glow in the distance, intrigued to see what it was, he decided to drive towards it to investigate.

The 22-year-old was shocked to find a massive blaze as he watched fire crews fight the raging inferno and police officers block the road.

He told the Record: "I was up the back of Thortonhall driving on the country roads and noticed the stars were nice. I got out to take a photo and saw this big orange glow in the distance.

"I was really intrigued as it was quite big - much bigger than it looked.

"I just came down the road by the corner and we saw loads of blue flashing lights.

"The whole sky was orange with it, it definitely wasn't as big on camera. On the video you can see a lot of fire fighters using hoses and there was a big police presence blocking off the road.

"The blaze was massive - the whole roof was caved in. It was a really clear night as well, there weren't any clouds in the sky. I initially thought it was maybe a farmer burning something.

"I was around two miles away when I first saw it - I just seen the orange glow and started driving towards it.

"Police weren't letting anyone through - it was a mad sight."

Bradley then had to take a detour as police blocked the road and no one was able to pass.

He witnessed the blaze around 15 minutes after officers were first alerted but says the roads were quiet, with only one taxi passing him on the route.

Bradley was gobsmacked when he woke up around 10am on Wednesday morning to find out the blaze had been at Peter Lawwell's home.

"I woke up around 10am and I was just going through my phone, I logged onto Facebook and was scrolling down when I saw 'Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell's house on fire'," he said.

"I was like no way, that can't be true but I checked the location and it was.

"My pals are all Celtic fans so they're really interested in it."

A petrol bomb or similar device is believed to have been aimed at Lawwell's car which was sitting in his driveway.

A blaze erupted as a vehicle exploded and the fire quickly spread to garages and his luxury home.

The garage and multiple vehicles have been left in ruins as the blaze ripped through windows and the roof of the house.

No one was injured during the incident as Lawwell and his family were moved to a safe place.

Police are probing the attack and enquiries remain ongoing.
