Blathnaid Treacy lands new presenting gig on RTE One

TV star Blathnaid Treacy has landed a new presenting gig on RTE One.

But the radio host is keeping tight-lipped on whether she will be returning to her Dancing with the Stars gig.

The newly married presenter finished up with Virgin Media’s Xpose just before she set off on her honeymoon to Greece earlier this month with her jazz musician hubby Charlie Mooney.

And speaking about what is coming next, the 31-year-old told Irish Daily Mirror: “I finished up with Xpose.

“I was working with them while Glenda Gilson was on maternity leave so she’s coming back and I’m going to be taking on a new presenting position on RTÉ One so I’m really excited about that.

“We will be announcing it on Sunday or Monday I think so I’m really excited to sink my teeth into that.

“I’m going to be covering a lot of the topics I love, so like fashion and entertainment and all that so I am really excited.”

Meanwhile, unsure about whether or not she’ll be returning to Dancing with the Stars’ spin off show, Can’t Stop Dancing was she added: “I’m not sure yet.

“They are keeping everything tight lipped and lock and key so you probably know as much as I do.”

The 2FM radio DJ was full of Irish pride when she was speaking in Galway on Wednesday, where they celebrated the official programme launch of Galway 2020, European Capital of Culture.

And commenting on Ireland’s new national treasure Greg O’Shea and his new gig on 2FM breakfast, she said she’s confident the Limerick lad will deliver the gift of the gab.

She said: “Yeah I’m delighted to hear that Greg is joining because he’s only in there for a couple of months so it’ll be interesting to see.

“He’s going to have to be up at the crack of dawn I think they get up at 4.30am so it’s a whole lifestyle change because it’s a prime time slot and a national show so a national stage so there’s pressure on his shoulders. But I think he has got the gift of the gab.”
