Blast off for summer book challenge as Wishaw kids invited to get involved

Wishaw kids are being invited to join the space race for this year’s summer reading challenge.

Wishaw Library is once again taking part in the national programme aiming to encourage kids to read for pleasure during the summer holidays.

They get stickers for each book read, and once they reach six books they receive a medal, certificate and get to attend a prize-giving ceremony.

Library supervisor Jean Ewart, pictured right, said: “This year the theme is space to mark the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong landing on the moon.

“The challenge is a great way to keep kids engaged with books over the summer, and most importantly to help them learn to read for pleasure.”

Signing up in our picture is St Ignatius P3 pupil Cassidy Gallacher.
